Abstract

Background: Scabies is endemic in many mountainous regions of Pakistan, and overcrowded, unhygienic conditions—such as in post-earthquake IDP camps—can trigger large-scale outbreaks.
Objective: To assess knowledge of scabies among women in a rural community in Lahore. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 75 women from the Gajjumata community in Lahore, selected via convenience sampling. Results: Among participants, 93.3% identified scratching as a cause of scabies, 73.3% recognized the skin as the main affected organ, and 86.7% were aware that nighttime itching and heat sensation are key symptoms. Conclusion: Women in the Gajjumata community demonstrated generally good knowledge of scabies, particularly regarding its symptoms and affected areas
